My Ripper Book of the week 7

Books Add comments

This week I have seen an influx of books and because of this I have not had chance to sit and really read any of them.  In fact 8 ripper books landed on the mat this week, so finding one which really grabbed my attention was difficult.

The one, which I was unable to put down however, was “Jack the Ripper, The Murders and The Movies, by Denis Meikle.

It is an unreadable book packed with trivia, anecdotes and useful essays on the films and Tv apearances of JTR.  There are ton’s of promotional pictures, art cards, and film stills to pour over.

The thing I like the most, is that you can pick it up and read it from any point, not having to worry about how things are moving.  That coupled with the fact that I am a big movie fan anyway satisfied my needs this week!

A great book, which answers every ripper related movie quiestion ever raised!

Have you read the new book by terry lynch called
    Jack the Ripper
    The Whitechapel Murderer.
i’ve read a lot of books on the Ripper but this one digs over a well worn plot and reassess all the accepted Ripper thinking.
It’s the best one I’ve read.

see Amazon Books….Horror…Tales of mystery and the supernatural… and it’s only £2.99p

I Andrew, I was a bit shocked to see the photo’s on the front cover were copied direct from ripper casebooks picture archive, and a couple of these are not victims but artists impressions. Lynch argues they were not ripper victims so why put them on the front cover.
Internally the pictures seem to have been either poorly scanned or copied from another source.

I did buy the book being a completist, but I was a little disapointed.

I’m glad you enjoyed the book. When I originally sent the book to Wordsworth Editions I did so on a disk (Cheaper). The head of the company a Mr Trayler died and I was approached at a later date by his wife. The book was published but it was not the final copy of the book that was published but an incomplete version. I did not realise this until I received the final copy after the book was published. The write up on the back of the book was not supplied by myself but by two leading critics to whom I had forwarded an advanced copy for their opinion. I can not tell you their names as it has been stated that the back page makes claims it is not entitled to and therefore I do not want to subject these people to criticism from their peers
Thank you for the positive response. It is greatly appreciated
