Mike Covell- Hoaxer?

Research, Stephenson Family Add comments

Don’t worry, I am not, but this question has been raised!

Check out this website, entitled “Hoax Forums”.  It’s very similar to the Ripper casebook and JTR Forums and it has raised an intresting debate!

Several members believe myself and Howard Brown to be behind some sort of hoax involving, The Da-vinci code, Vesica Picies (or whatever it’s called) and Mary Jane Kelly……

Here is the weird and wonderful thread!!

Weird and certainly hilarious, Mike! I like the part where they wonder if you and Howard really exist! Do you?
If Ivor Edward’s body is found in the National Gallery and he manages to twist himself into a vesica pisces, we’ll know who the guilty party is. Ha ha.

ha! Howard and I had to join to defend ourselves, which just made things worse I think!! I am real, there is a picture on casebook of me here http://forum.casebook.org/showthread.php?t=354&page=25
    post number 248!!

The Grail line continues, Mike? That’s a very nice picture and quite a nice chapel too. What is it called? Roslyn with one S? Ha ha!
Here is a picture of Howard Brown at http://www.telegraph.co.uk… Oh! Sorry, that’s a picture of Richard “Holy Blood Holy Grail” Leigh. They both have a handlebar.

I read about this “hoax” at the Hoax Museum and I’m intrigued as a paranormalist myself and from the perspective of someone who believes in the phenomenon of duality. Our Jack-the-Ripper type cases here in the US also involve secret children and they are not hoaxes. Maybe Mary’s isn’t either.
The first American JtR examples that come to mind would be the Boston Strangler and Black Dahlia and both DO have offspring involved. They are Boston Strangler victim, Patricia Bissette’s unborn child, and Black Dahlia suspect George Hodel’s secret grandchild, and possibly child, Fauna Hodel. Both are real and not hoaxes, although Hodel’s candidacy as the Dahlia killer might be considered a hoax.
Fauna Hodel is easy to look up. She has her own web page. She was the illegitimate grandaughter and/or alleged daughter of Dr. George Hodel and given into the care of a black maid. I’m not saying Hodel killed Elizabeth Short.
Patricia Bissette, found dead in bed in her shared apartment, just like “Marie Jeanette” Kelly, was pregnant when she was killed. The killer was more than likely her boss with whom she was having an affair. He’s the prime suspect for one thing because she was tucked in bed. The unborn child was likely his and the reason for the copycat crime.
So you see the Rolsyn Hoax does have precedents.

Duality, to those who are unfamiliar with it, is similar to the doppleganger effect–what happens in one place happens somewhere else. “What’s loosed in heaven is loosed on earth” and vice versa.
For an example of earth to earth duality, look at the search for the Holy Grail. Originally centred in France and in Acadia, former French territory in Nova Scotia, the search shifted to Scotland and it’s mirrored by the continued search in Nova Scotia and lately the Bruce trail in Ontario. (see works by Michael Bradley)

Will the new Roslyn Hoax make it into your Roslyn book, Mike? I think it emanates from Southern Ontario too if you want to investigate further. Do you have any friends there?

Hi Keegn, Thanks for the feedback. My book is about Stephenson and the facts so I will be staying well away from the misconceptions made by other authors or researchers.

It has sections on “Debunking Black Magic”, “Debunking the Dead or Alive” story, and “Dissecting the Incident at Flamborough Head”.
The chronology has over 1,500 entries all from primary sources instead of relying on hearsay and stories.

15000 hits on the Roslyn Hoax thread at Hoax Forum and still climbing….It suggests Roslyn Hoaxers beef up their VPs with the Ripper the same way Rosslyn (2 Ss) Hoaxers beef up the San Graal with the Templars.

I was on there recently and saw that someone had created another version of Stephenson’s “Dead or Alive” story. It was quite a good attempt, and an amusing read, but 20 years down the line, someone else will find it, and claim it is true, thus starting the cycle again!

Mike, are you saying that the Carnarvon story is a fake like all the other Royal Conspiracies? The HistoryHype Ripper Blogger says they’re all hoaxes.

Oral tradition and legend preserve truth as well or better oftentimes than the written word and documents. Journalism mostly preserves oral tradition in its reports. Of course oftentimes, the story has to be more fanciful and interesting so people won’t forget.
